Katie Eats: Cypress, Charleston

While the weather in Charleston disappointed, the food did not! Our first foodie stop was Cypress.

Cypress Cypress had the coolest wine room. It was three stories tall! Cypress

My parents had wine, but I had my signature drink – a Shirley Temple.

This was the wine. My parents seemed to enjoy it. Tasted like sour grapes to me. Cypress

Ah, my favorite course, the bread.

I didn’t get one, but I sampled my parent’s appetizers and they were both really good. My mum got a salad that came with fried brie and a cranberry-walnut chutney. I don’t usually like sweet and salty combos, but the cheese with the chutney was a perfect mix of flavors. Cypress

My dad had a lobster bisque, and even as someone who doesn’t like lobster I thought it was very tasty!

For my main I had the filet of beef, which came with potato cakes, asparagus and had a red wine sauce. While I like asparagus, I don’t think I’ve ever come away from a meal wanting to talk about how delicious the asparagus was. This asparagus was just that. The sauce was perfect too and I finished everything on my plate (which isn’t easy for me!). Cypress

I didn’t try my parents’ main courses but I did get pictures. This is my mum’s salmon (yes, it looked rather like a dessert pastry).

My dad had the scallions and lardon, which he was unable to finish much to his sadness.Cypress

For dessert there was a citrus creamsicle pavlova and the molten chocolate cake.

This was probably my favorite meal we had in Charleston. Everything was just so good! It also happened to have nice photo opportunity.
