It’s that time of year again – New Year’s Resolutions! I know a lot of people think they’re silly, but I like to use them as a way of focusing my energy. Sure, you can make goals at any time, but there’s something nice about planning for the year ahead. My New Year’s Resolutions 2018 are very similar to my goals from last year.
Finish my novel! This is always on the list… Really it should be edit my novel and do something with it, because I have finished books but you get the idea.
Sew more things! To quantify this, finish at least 6 sewing projects by the end of the year. In particular, complete some of the projects I started this year and didn’t finish. Soon I’ll write a post about the different cosplay specific goals I have for the year.
Travel! I want to go to Disneyworld for Dapper Day for sure. Paris has been on my mind a lot lately too…
Find a better work-life balance! Right now I spend the majority of my free time working, because being a teacher means you’re never done. I want to find a better balance between work and play. This is especially important because I’ll be starting my graduate classes this semester. Speaking of which-
Do well in my graduate classes! I’m starting my master’s degree this semester and I want to do my best! I got a 4.0 when I took the classes for my teaching license and I’d like to keep it up.
Improve my social life! Right now I don’t have one. Specific goals: 1) Visit at least 2 friends. 2) Get coffee with at least 1 coworker. 3) Attend at least 1 meetup.
Work out! I used to be really good at working out regularly. Then my knee pain got bad again and I started working the crazy hours of a teacher. I’m frustrated that the doctors have said that running will cause further knee injury, but there are other exercises I can, and should, do. My goal is to get back into the habit of going to the gym at least once a week.
What about you? What are your New Year’s Resolutions for 2018?
